International Women's Day
Redrawing the Balance
International Women's Day gave Lewis Class a great opportunity to explore our perception of gender roles in society. We drew pictures of firefighters, surgeons and fighter pilots. We gave them names. After sharing our drawings Miss Mitchell showed the children a video clip of three women who do these jobs. We discussed why most of us had drawn men in our pictures instead of women. We reminded ourselves that in Britain in 2018 girls can follow any career they want and we shouldn't limit our dreams.
