Hargreaves assembly and JML

Thank you to all the visitors who joined us for our assembly and JML. The children enjoyed sharing their ocarina playing, forward rolls, wake and shake and other learning with you. We hope you enjoyed the Big Maths challenge, the spelling test and the Phonics lesson.

RAF competition

The key stage two children have entered a cometition with the RAF. They had to design a Christmas card wishing the RAF a happy Christmas and a happy 100th birthday. I think they have done a great job and I've enjoyed looking through them!
Here are a few examples..........good luck everyone!

Hargreaves play the ocarina

Yesterday, Hargreaves class had their first, much awaited, ocarina lesson. All week long, they had been anticipating this and from the moment Mrs Matthews opened the gate on Friday morning, she was constantly asked "Is it ocarina time?".

Finally at 1.20pm it was time! The next 40 minutes were a joy to behold as every member of the class learnt how to hold, wear and blow their ocarina and how to read the notes B and High D.

They were even able to play the first two tunes and stopped to add in the rests. They were delighted with themselves!

They, now, can not wait for their next lesson. Hopefully Butterworth and Potter will be just as enthusiastic.

Remembrance

At 11am, we, as a school, stopped and gathered for a time of silence and remembrance. The youngest children stayed in their rooms and watched Poppies, the rest met in the hall.

We will remember them

Volcanoes in Year 3/4

This afternoon we had great fun watching our volcanoes 'erupt' when we filled them with vinegar, bicarbonate of soda, washing up liquid and food colouring. The chemical reaction produced gas which escaped from the top of the plastic bottle inside our newspaper and art roc sculptures.  BloggerImage
