Year 1 Phonics Screening Check Presentation

On Wednesday 29th February a Phonics presentation was held by Miss Glazebrook and Miss Clark. The presentation included information about the Phonics Screening Check that children in Year 1 will need to complete during the week of 18th June 2012.

Don't worry if you missed the meeting. Slides from the PowerPoint are included below, as well as a video clip showing pronunciations of some of the key phonemes. Your child should also have information in their book bag, which includes lists of sounds and words that they can practise at home.

A great place to start practising phonics with your child at home is http://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/. This will help your child to read phonemes in real and nonsense words.

Thank you for your continued support.

If you have any questions please speak to Miss Clark or Miss Glazebrook.

  1. Thank you Miss Clark for posting this valuable information on the blog, so parents whose children are not yet in year 1 & 2 can get an understanding of what is to come.

It is also helpful for the parents who may have missed your presentation.
